I currently work as the leader of the tech area in Welight, a company that uses technology in order to generate a good impact on the world, delivering more transparency and eficiency in donations. I have already collaborated in several areas of the company, from modelling the system and designing the layouts to developing front and backend.
I started working in Welight when it was still a startup back in 2016. Back there, the business model was a browser plugin that generated donations in partner ecommerces. Attached to this there was a system for donors in which the user could choose for which NGOs the donation would go.
My part was to redesign this system following the Google Material guidelines and to create the layout of the mobile app. As I showed my product designer profile, I became part of the shareholders and started working in the innovation team. In this position, I was responsible for producing roadmaps, page flowcharts, wireframes and, of course, communicating with the developing team and with the CEO.
As we started redesigning the system, new features came up. Such as a new tool for NGOs, where they could give more information about the projects and the results achieved from the donation. I helped design the flowchart, wireframe and also created the layout of this tool.
By that time, Welight's team started collaborating with IBM in order to develop a solution in blockchain to track all donations.
We also created a tool for companies to generate a donation from their sales. It started with a plugin for ecommerces that give the user the option to select a NGO and the store is responsible for donating the amount for that cause. Then, we have created the same feature for POS and services.
In 2019, the ticket sales tool was a prototype, as well as the crowdfunding tool. In the same year, we got the award 'Best for the World' from Sistema B. I was also responsible for conceiving the Funds tool, in partnership with a british cosmetics company.
By the end of 2019, the need of having a crowdfunding solution in Welight was clear, since there were NGOs ready to use the platform. So I started developing on my own, in my spare time, the whole system from the payment integration to the withdraw function, going through the dashboard of the campaign with all of it's donations. All using PHP and mySQL.
This project got bigger than I thought it would. In 5 months we raised more than R$ 2 million with this platform. Because of it, I started redesigning the tickets sales platform and transformed it into a market place that at least 1% of Welight's profits are donated to the partner NGOs. And it sells not only tickets, but also products and services.
Today, I am leading a team of developers to make that system even bigger and to connect it to Impact Bank, so the amount donated can grow even more.
